Welsh 3000 peak challenge

The Mobex project in partnership with the Merseyside Probation service helped to guide their clients over the Welsh 3000 Peak Challenge. This is a gruelling hike over 15 of Snowdonia's highest peaks and provided a tough test for the probation paticipants.

Training days were planned beforehand so that the clients could see what they were letting themselves in for! This enabled them to build up stamina and endurance for the event.

On the day we started out at midnight and continued through the night upto Snowdon and then over Crib Goch! breakfast was taken in the Llanberis Pass before the arduous ascent of Elidir Fawr. The midge fly were out so stopping on the peaks for a quick rest became a nightmare for all. We plodded on over to Y Garn then onto the Glyders, by now the group were beginning to tire and it was decided to finish on Tryfan before bedding down for the night in the Ogwen Valley.

The following morning weary legs awoke and we slowly plodded upto the Carneddau plateau bagging the rest of the peaks finishing at around 5pm.

All who had taken part had pushed themselves physically and mentally beyond their own personal boundaries and for a few glorious days in mid summer they had achieved a massive milestone in their lives.

The Mobex team would like to thank the Probation service for letting us be part of this great event.
